Coalfield Health is proud to be a federally funded health center serving southern West Virginia. In 2026, we became a Health Center Program awardee, receiving Section 330 funding through the Public Health Service Act. This support strengthens our commitment to providing accessible, affordable, high-quality healthcare to the communities we serve.

Our Mission

Rural Health Access Corporation (RHAC), doing business as Coalfield Health, is a rural nonprofit healthcare organization serving Logan and surrounding counties and communities throughout southern West Virginia. Coalfield Health began operations in July 2009 and later achieved designation as a Federally Qualified Health Center Look-Alike. In 2026, Coalfield Health transitioned from a Federally Qualified Health Center Look-Alike to a fully funded Federally Qualified Health Center after receiving a Health Center Program H80 award.

Coalfield Health works to provide rural health rotations for medical students, interns, and residents. We also participate in numerous research opportunities. We collaborate with medical training programs across the state to serve as a hub for rural medical education rotations.

Coalfield Health received the 2020 WVRHA Excellence in Rural Health Award and the 2021 Outstanding Rural Health Organization Award from the National Rural Health Association.
